Many people do a job. A few people at work go to .
occasion of a squad training sessions were given every 18 participants the order to stand alone and independent of each other on a flip chart sheet with colored felt tip pens an image that represents about her new life, given that she had last weekend won 5 million in the lottery. This object was not a group work, everyone had retired to his room and his portrait painted. The result was a big surprise for me.
What do you think was shown in the pictures in more or less identical way? Again, a reminder: These were executives of a large company in Switzerland. Of the 18 participants in a not entirely approve of training were 17 back with such a drawing or something similar and have declared that they would quit their current job immediately.
A powerful coming out, the same two pieces of information brings with it. Info 1: 17 of 18 seminar participants to give no uncertain terms that they only do a job, they would depend on the location of the nail, if they had scored the winning millions in the lottery. So that they come out as a purely income-oriented, they (Info 2) do not even notice.
The coach has astonished not bad and now it is not surprising more if his question "Why are you here?" Responses were like "Because my boss sent me!" or "My boss was able to give me a raise, but I may go to this seminar!"
It remains to add that a single player with a completely different picture came back. It was his desk and to see a stack of papers. He explained that for him would not change much through the lottery win. He would try to create the unexpected wealth relatively safe and perhaps to build a house, but in his work, he ENGAGED with great motivation would therefore change nothing.
It should now not be too difficult to determine who is doing a job here and who pursues a profession. Comes from professional vocation and a job is nothing more than any activity that serves the sole purpose of earning money.
The definition of "job" according to Wikipedia:
- in everyday language (but increasingly, officially, see, eg Job Centre), a job, a position one position, a (temporary) gainful employment for the purpose of earning money, real meaning is the practice of a lower activity for the purpose of additional earning money, such as distributing leaflets at the weekend
Especially the second part of the definition is not familiar to many people and they all now call a "job". But this is so, even if unintentionally, not wrong because, after all, the majority of people only a "job" and just carries on no "professional" exercise.
Who sells a student to obtain a small income, in the evening hamburgers in fast-food shop that makes a "job". His career goal is to be such as medicine.
What is it with you? Go to your work with joy? Do you sometimes on Friday that this week is over rushing again very quickly? If you are already back on Monday morning with great zest and we look to the customers you can visit in front of you week?
if you are mostly "good mood" and in thinking about the case, then you do what can be described as a profession, then you are a "Professional" and not a "jobber". This is also the basic requirement as the attitude to success and do not forget: your customer feels it and takes it as a professional was and will give you the necessary confidence.
